Growing up, Kat owned chickens and geese and worked with farm animals. Her family always had memberships to the zoo and cultivated her love of animals. She decided at a young age that she wanted to be zoo keeper.

Kat was introduced to the WildHeart Foundation while pursuing her degree in Zookeeping Technology. She had a passion for bettering the lives of wild animals in captivity, and WildHeart would help her achieve that goal. For her, there is little that compares to feeling of seeing an animal happy because of her work.

When not kissing wolves or giving toys to other zoo animals, Kat spends her free time rock climbing or hiking with her dogs.
